There is a point in prolonged suffering where standard spiritual encouragement begins to sound like noise. When a prognosis promises only continued decline, or when an ongoing trial settles into an untenable status quo, the advice usually offered by well-meaning observers loses its traction. You are told to "stay strong," to "find the joy in the journey," or to "claim your breakthrough." But when your physical body, your emotional reserves, or your neurological capacity is steadily draining, the energy required to muster up "drive" or "felt joy" simply does not exist. At that boundary, a heavy question settles in: If I can no longer feel the drive to serve, if I am simply exhausted and dragging myself through each day, am I failing? Why isn't God replacing my exhaustion with supernatural vitality?
